This was a trip we decided on last year. It took a while to decide on the company we would go with. Chose Newmarket travel in the end as it gave us more flexibility over where and when to eat, also was a smaller group in the tour party – 16. Started in Malaga, somewhere we had enjoyed when in Torremolinos. It was just as nice this time. Had a good walk around and found new streets to mooch in.

Day 2 was a journey day – up to Seville. The stop along the way was in Ronda. We had visited this last year as well but again it is such a nice place that we didn’t mind a re-visit. It meant we could get down into the gorge and look at the bridge from a different angle. The tour guide was also very different and we saw a few different aspects of the town. A hot day, good lunch – tapas. The hotel we arrived at in Seville was the tallest building in Andalucia. Quite impressive to look at. The views from the restaurant at the top were spectacular.
Today was the tour of Seville. A long morning with look around the very colourful and impressive Plaza de Espana. Could have spent longer here. Next was the Alcazar, another impressive building, ornate Moorish influences and stunning garden layout. had a taverna lunch and then went and explored the city and across to Trianna. Just so relaxing to wander despite the heat. A good rest before dining in a funny little cafe in Trianna – super paella !

Boat trip down the river in Seville which was a necessary relaxing time. Then further exploration of the city and across to Trianna for lunch before setting off to Cordoba. time for a walk around the walls and down to the Roman bridge after arrival. Also found some of the ‘patios’ (People’s gardens inside their house) which are open for visits – very pretty. Back to hotel for a rest then out to eat and wander the streets which were very busy.
Morning at leisure today. So we went to explore Cordoba. Found a museum of patios – what a pleasant and relaxing place. Then to Roman temple and to the market for lunch. Afternoon was a guided tour around the Mezquita (mosque turned cathedral). Spectacular building, would have liked time to explore by ourselves it was so big. Back to hotel for a rest then out to find somewhere to eat, another relaxing place to wander around in the evening.

Moved on today. Visit to Prego de Cordoba on the way to Granada. Never to be forgotten place ! After a wander around we had lunch. Anne was stung by a wasp. This affected her badly and we needed the guide to help us – visited a walk in centre where she was treated. Eventually was allowed to travel on to Granada. we managed to go out to eat after she had a good rest.
Granada. Morning to our own devices, so good walk around including the cathedral, views over the Alhambra from the hotel roof and down to look at the Roman bridge. The afternoon was a tour of the Alhamabra. A vast palace and gardens, it was a 4 hour tour and I’m sure we still missed some bits. Very impressive architecture and superb views. Looking back it was more spectacular than we realised at the time. Ate in the main square – super tapas !
