Decided to visit Chester after a flying vsiit earlier in the year and a hotel offer of 3 nights for the price of 2. Good hotel, room was very spacious, staff good and breakfasts good. Called in to Manchester on way down to go to You me and the balloons, an art exhibition. Very strange, different and enjoyable. (more pictures below).

Walked round the walls of Chester in drizzle. Found good tapas bar. Roman amphitheatre a bit underwhelming. They should make more of it. Cathedral a bit commercialised, possibly due to the mystery plays being staged there. Designer outlet village was big and busy in the rain. We bought Haribo !
Pontcysyllte aqueduct was a marvel to see. The animated video helped explain the construction. Couldn’t manage to walk far across it, too disorientating for me. Then on to Chirk castle and a good walk around the gardens. Back to the tapas bar this evening as it was open on Tuesdays – super food ! An enjoyable few days away.
