Iain bought us an ‘experience’ day. A boat trip along the Thames to Greenwich followed by afternoon tea in a posh hotel just behind Oxford street. As you can see from the photograph the day we chose started off overcast. The journey down the river from Westminster to Greenwich took longer than we expected, but was really interesting with a good commentary.

The day brightened up as we walked to the observatory and took in the view back across the naval college to the Isle of Dogs and the City. Didn’t have time to visit the Cutty Sark, needing to get back in time for our tea π The journey back upstream by boat was just as good as the downstream trip. A good way to travel around the capital. Less hassle than the tube !
Off the boat and walk up the Strand to the 5 star Courthouse Hotel. Tea in the hotel was fabulous. Good service, good food and plenty of it for an afternoon tea.
The hotel was just opposite Liberty so we had a quick look in there. As it was November they had their Christmas department open – how many different styles of bauble are there !!
Then back to Kings Cross, back to Peterborough.
