March visit to the Lakes, wweather started wet but improved over the 3 days. Started off at Aira falls. the rain helped the waterfall look spectacular and the visit was rounded off with a red squirrel sitting in a tree – posing for a photograph (it could have come out into the light a bit better but !). Walked up to Orrest head as too early to check in. Great views across the lake.

Staying at a B and B in Windermere, near the town centre for eating out. Walked from Rydal water round to Grasmere, had lunch and walked back along the fell side. Built up an appetite.
Down to Sizergh castle for a walk round the gardens and house. Then a drive around Windermere to visit Wray castle ( a folly !). Popped into Coniston while over there.

Castlerigg stone circle was a good walk and was on the route home. As was Brougham hall. Always enjoy the Lakes, easy to get to, plenty to do, we will b e back.
