Malta

Malta for a weeks stay in a very good hotel. Good staff, very good room and great breakfasts. We enjoyed our week, finding some super restaurants and just wandering around streets. Found a beach but there are not many !

We spent a couple of days exploring Valetta. A lovely city, lots of small streets, wonderful old buildings including monastery and nunnery. The grand palace is spectacular and the fortifications immense. A harbour tour was informative as well as providing spectacular views and is recommended. A few rich people’s boats dotted around. Also plenty of places to eat in the little streets.

Mdina is a small walled town that is wondrous in its narrow streets and fabulous buildings with marvellous views across the the island from the walls. A busy tourist place. The nearby town is quieter with catacombs and Roman remains that are worth a visit.

Visited the isalnd of Gozo. Took a bus to the other end of the island which was an adventure in itself. The buses are frequent and well used. A weekly bus pass and a transport app thta tells you where to gfet and off buses helped us get around.
