First (!) foreign holiday this year. Looked at trying to get to Granada but ended up choosing Torremolinos as we liked the look of the hotel – impressions were well founded. Early start from Newcastle to Malaga and short transfer. Brief walk around after arrival, along the coast and up into the town.
Explored Torremolinos and along to Benalmedina today. Both nice places just to wander around and relax, can see why they attract so many tourists. Very varied clientele from many nations. Lots of nationalities. Many Italian restaurants and Irish pubs. Went to see the ‘turn’ in the hotel this evening – good, light entertainment.
Long walk up hill to he local market this morning. Interesting to see, also the bull ring. Then back down for a wander around the old town area. Hot so had a rest by the rooftop pool before going out to search for food !
Train to Malalga this morning. Tourist bus to get around and especially up to the castle, would not have managed the walk in the heat. Some super views across Malaga and the cruise ships. After lunch visited the roman ruins and the lower palace which has some fabulous arcitecture. Back to hotel exhausted.
Excursion day to Ronda. Tour with a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide. Not a big place but very interesting with some views across the countryside, an interesting bull ring and the spectacular bridge over the gorge. A long day but worth it.
Back to Malaga on the train to mooch around the city centre. We both enjoy wandering the streets, shops and other buildings. There was plenty to see. We probably missed some but it was tiring in the heat so back for a rest by the pool before eating out – no surprise there !
Train in the other direction today along to Fuengirola. Not as attractive as we hoped although we may have missed a bit. Back to laze around the pool before final meal out. Then back to hotel for the entertainment which we enjoyed most evenings and was another plus for the hotel. it was a good choice for service, room quality and breakfasts.
